BC SOCIETY FOR MALE
SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL ABUSE
Supporting Male-Identifying Survivors of Sexual Violence.
The BCSMSSA is an organization providing services for male-identifying persons who have experienced sexual abuse. They create educational materials and train other services supporting male survivors as well.
Their primary support offering for male survivors is counselling. They also have trained victim services workers who can assist by providing justice system information, support, court accompaniment, providing information about making a police report and taking legal action in criminal cases, referral to a lawyers, and exploring compensation options.
It is important to note that these services are based out of Vancouver, and we have been unable to identify any other Fraser Valley resources specifically tailored to male-identifying survivors. We have victim services workers in other Fraser Valley cities, but not support groups.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy through the BCSMSSA costs $100 per hour for up to 26 sessions, wth sliding scale for those with financial barriers. There is a waiting list for this service. We can aid in calling and asking about wait times and location options. There will be an intake session before therapy begins.

GROUP THERAPY
The BCSMSSA offers group therapy sessions in 8-10 week cycles, for $40 per session, with a sliding scale for financial barriers. It is recommended that male survivors attend a couple individual sessions before group sessions to ensure they are ready for a group discussion. Sessions are 2 hours once per week.
