THE FOUNDRY
ABBOTSFORD
WHAT IS THE FOUNDRY?
WHO IS IT FOR?
The Foundry is an organization that focuses on providing health and wellness resources to young people ages 12-24, as well as their families and caregivers.
There are centres located across the province, with Fraser Valley centre located in Abbotsford. The Foundry also offers a variety of virtual services and resources on their website, for those who are not able to make it into the physical location.
The website is easy to navigate and has an emergency exit button on sensitive pages (such as their abuse information pages) for users’ convenience.
-
PHONE + ONLINE CHAT
For young people who need anonymous or phone-based help, The Foundry has an entire page with text and call lines for different types of assistance, including indigenous specific assistance, sexual health specific assistance, and more.
-
EDUCATION ON ABUSE
Especially for young people, knowing what classifies as abuse can be difficult when accompanied with disbelief, doubt, fear, and other obstacles. The Foundry helps to teach on the topic of abuse and what steps can be taken when abuse has been realized.
-
COMMUNITY SERVICES SEARCH
The Foundry Website has a search tool for community services offered to young people. It shows the services on a map of the province of BC, and has the option to browse by category (including sexual violence). This is a lot to navigate, but their staff are ready to help chat with you about options.
-
PEER SUPPORT
Young survivors and their families or caregivers can access local peer support through the Foundry, provided by others who have experienced similar challenges. Peer support leaders are able to assist in navigating the healthcare system, and in finding resources to aid in healing.
